Neuroimaging sleep and memory
Back to overview

Sleep has a crucial role in memory consolidation, which is the focus of our lab. In this project we will acquire data using neuroimaging techniques such as functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) and magnetoencephalography (MEG) while human participants learn new material, and during subsequent sleep. Our goal is to elucidate the neural mechanisms that underly the encoding of new memories, their consolidation during sleep, and their integration with previous knowledge. Depending on the project stage, the student will either help with the data acquisition and/or have hands-on experience with data processing, under the supervision of an experienced researcher.

Faculty Department

Faculty of Medicine

The Department of Fundamental Neurosciences (Neufo) is at the heart of the neuroscience community in Geneva, with a core team of 14 research groups spanning two campuses (CMU and Campus Biotech).

We investigate brain function from molecules to neurons and circuits, using cellular and animal models as well as human subjects, with the long-term goal of understanding the neural basis of human behavior in health and disease.
